Cleaning the gutter at least two times per year will help you avoid the premature replacement of the gutter. This can help you avoid damages and costly repairs. Here are some of the steps to follow to ensure that it will remain on its best condition.

1. Gather the Necessary Tools

All tools and equipment that will be used in cleaning the gutter should be placed close to your starting point. The corner of our house would be an ideal place to start the cleaning process. Some experts recommend starting close to the downspout to prevent debris from being pushed into it. Place the ladder on a levelled surface and check for its stability. For those who are using a bucket, it should come with a handle that can be attached to the ladder. To keep safe from the sharp object, wear thick gloves.

2. Removing the Debris

You may use a hand spade or a garden trowel when removing the debris in your gutter. Scoop the materials and place it inside the bucket. In case there are some stubborn pieces that you can't scoop, remove it manually. You may dispose the debris in your trash or use this as composting materials. However, you may need to separate the metal things on the debris such as nails and screws.

3. Rinsing

Once all the major debris has been eliminated, it is time to expel the remaining dirt using a garden hose. Starting from the section away from the downspout, rinse the gutter with water using the spray function of your hose. Continue doing this until there are no traces of dirt in your gutter.

4. Clearing the Clogged Materials

Clogged on your gutters can be easily removed but it will be messy. On the contrary, the obstruction in your downspout will be challenging. You may start by applying water pressure on your downspout using your garden hose. This may be sufficient to force the materials out of the downspout, However, if this fails to accomplish the job, a plumber snake would be necessary to extract materials out of the downspout.

Finally, you need to keep doing this process for every six months. While cleaning the gutter, you should also inspect and check for any signs of damage. This way, you can conduct repairs while the problem is not that serious. Should you find the process overwhelming, there will be roofers that will be happy to assist you in this matter.
